We review recent data on electron and photon interactions with deuteron: elastic and inelastic electron-deuteron scattering, $\\pi^0$ photoproduction on deuteron, and deuteron photodisintegration, with specific interest to polarization observables in the kinematical region where quark and gluon degrees of freedom should have to be explicitely included in the models. We compare the recent data with the predictions of pQCD. The scale where pQCD applies, after taking into account the new data is shifted to shorter distances.
