A novel technique for Minimum Quench Energy Measurements in Superconductors Using a Single-Mode Diode Laser

To simulate quench precursors into superconducting magnets, a novel technique based on a single-Mode diode laser was used as heater. In this article, we introduce the preliminary results obtained with such a technology. Compared to past heaters, it appears more reliable and handy. In addition, it shows a large improvement into the reproducibility of the measurements.
