First SPIRAL2 beam at Saclay

In mid-March 2010, the light ion (proton and deuteron) source of the SPIRAL2 project emitted its first beam of hydrogen ions. This result was obtained on the test installation of the low-energy lines at Saclay, marking the official start of this test facility's operation. Fifteen metres of accelerator line will be assembled and tested in a bunker by IRFU, and then installed at Ganil in 2011.
