On September 14, 2015 at 09:50:45 UTC the two LIGO detectors have simultaneously observed the merger of two stellar-mass black-holes through the detection of gravitational waves emitted during the astrophysical event. In this seminar, I will describe the discovery and explain what we can already infer from GW150914.
