Effondrement d'un nuage avec rotation
Collapse of a cloud with rotation
Numerical simulation of the fragmentation of a rotating gas cloud under the effect of gravity. The simulation shows the evolution of the proto-star cluster over 10,000 years until the formation of stars (on the left) and zoom on the most central part of the cluster on the right. The density of the material is color coded from blue to red according to the scale indicated at the bottom of the image. The spatial scale is given in the lower left and the evolutionary time is given in the top left. The inclination axes of stars similar to those observed by the Kepler satellite (cluster NGC 6791) are aligned when, in the simulation, the kinetic energy of the original cloud is comparable to the energy of the turbulence.
