A large tracking detector for low-energy ions

We present an innovative detector with a large working area (100x400 mm2)for ion tracking. This device is based on the detection of secondary electron emitted by a thin foil placed at 45 to the direction of the beam. Secondary electrons are accelerated and focused by an electric and a magnetic field toward a low-pressure gaseous chamber. Time and position (X and Y) are measured. The typical resolutions (FWHM) are 300 ps and 1,5mm, respectively.
