The D0 and CDF experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron have found evidence for single top quark production and measured the CKM matrix element |Vtb| directly for the first time. Both are working towards observation of single top.
I will describe how these state-of-the-art analyses employ multivariate analysis techniques to extract the small single top signal out of the large backgrounds. I will also present prospects for single top physics at the Tevatron and the LHC.
