The cosmic neutrino background is a central prediction of standard cosmology. Neutrino capture on tritium has emerged as a promising method for detecting it. We present the PTOLEMY experiment, aiming at the detection of relic neutrinos in this aproach. In addition, we will discuss the potential physics reach of a PTOLEMY-like experiment, like Majorana vs. Dirac neutrinos, clustering and annual modulation, and sterile neutrinos.
