The strong coupling and Vub from lattice QCD

I give an introduction into what the strong coupling is, and how QCD discretized on a space-time lattice works. I then discuss the methods available to use lattice QCD in order to extract the strong coupling and Vub from experimental information. I will also review the present status of the lattice computations of the strong coupling including the world average of the FLAG-2 review.
