On the 29th June, the collaborations EPTA (Europe), NANOGrav (US), PPTA (Australia) and CPTA (China) simultaneously announced independent results from the analysis of decades of pulsar observations. These results provide a strong evidence for the existence of gravitational waves at very low frequency, in the nanoHertz band.
In this seminar, the timing of pulsar will be presented, followed by the construction of an array forming a galactic scale detector for gravitational waves. Analysis and results will be described, with a particular focus on EPTA results. Finally, the first interpretations will be presented as well as future prospects with the combination of all PTAs data within the IPTA (International PTA) collaboration and the SKA.
