Many theories of new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics predict the production, at the LHC, of heavy new particles that decay to top quarks and/or massive electroweak bosons. When the new particles are very heavy the decay products can be produced with sufficient boost that their decay products overlap within experimental detectors. This provides new challenges for physics analyses that wish to reconstruct such 'boosted' objects. In this seminar I will present studies of boosted object reconstruction techniques performed by the ATLAS collaboration and discuss their application in searches for new heavy resonances.
