Miscellaneous :

Kuiper et al. (2006) Atel 684:
  • Flux of ~3.1 mCrab in the 20-65 keV band, with potential counterparts: LEDA 58547/ESO 137-34 (Sey-2).
Landi et al. 2007: ATel 990:
  • Refinement of the position with Swift XRT
  • Confirm the association of the X-ray source with the Sey 2 galaxy
  • unabsorbed power law spectrum Gamma=2.3
  • 2-10 keV flux of 2.4e-13 erg/cm2/s
Malizia et al. 2007 (ApJ):
    z=0.009
Malizia et al. 2009 (MNRAS):
  • Broad band (XMM+INTEGRAL) spectrum is flat + prominent iron emission line => indicative of a Compton thick Sey 2.
  • Spectral fitting of the spectrum <=> 3 models can represent the data well:
    • one representing transmission where some of the high energy radiation penetrates trough the thick absorption and is observed with the reflection from the surface of the thick torus
    • one of pure reflection, where the primary continuum is completely supressed
    • one of complex absorption involving partial covering by different absorbers.
  • Absorption > 1.5e24 cm-2 in all 3 cases =>Compton thick
  • Based on recent observational and theoretical findings favour the complex absorber (but no scenario can be fully confirmed from the data).
