- flux de rayons gamma de Supernovæ publiés sous la forme de modèles analytiques;
- la simulation de la production par le rayonnement cosmique de neutrons de spallations dans l’atmosphère qui, capturés par le 14N, produisent le 14C ;
Radioactive 14C atoms (half-life 5730 years) are continuously produced at the troposphere-stratosphere interface during the interaction of cosmic ray particles. They are absorbed in the form of CO2 by the oceans or by vegetation during photosynthesis.
The 14C content in the atmosphere varies with solar activity that influences the geomagnetic shield, and with climatic fluctuations that modify the exchanges between the carbon reservoirs of the Earth. In addition to these fluctuations, violent solar events (SPE, Solar particle Event) emitting high-energy protons can produce significant excesses, some of which have been detected since ten years in the annual rings of trees, thanks to the improvements in 14C measurement techniques.
Some excesses could also be attributed to the explosion of nearby stars at the end of their life, galactic supernovae. Their identification and characterization gives the possibility of constraining the flux of high-energy gamma rays (> MeV) emitted during these events, a phenomenon never observed until today.

The internship takes place in the context of the CHASCA project, the aim of which is to search for traces of supernovae listed in historical writings from tree rings sampled in Patagonian cypresses. The work consists in establishing the order of magnitude of the expected signal from:
- Supernovae gamma-ray fluxes published as analytical models;
- Simulation of the production by cosmic radiation of spallation neutrons in the atmosphere which, captured by 14N, produce 14C;
- modeling of CO2 absorption using simplified models of atmospheric exchange (carbon-box model).
