In this internship we propose to develop a new data analysis pipeline that will allow to obtain surface rotation, differential rotation, as well as to determine the existence of magnetic cycles by integrating different data analysis techniques and to interface it with the ROOSTER artificial intelligence module developed in our laboratory (Breton et al. 2021). These methods will be implemented in Python or C++ with decision techniques to be developed to combine the results obtained by all the different algorithms.
Sujet détaillé/Full description
Development of a pipeline in python to obtain the rotation period of F, G, K, M stars for the PLATO (ESSA) mission

Development of a pipeline in python to obtain the rotation period of F, G, K, M stars for the PLATO (ESSA) mission

The objective of ESA's PLATO mission is to search for and characterise extrasolar systems similar to the solar system. To this end, PLATO will observe hundreds of thousands of stars for which it is necessary to characterise the surface rotation, the differential rotation and to determine the existence of magnetic cycles.

In this internship we propose to develop a new data analysis pipeline that will allow to obtain these parameters by integrating different techniques and to interface it with the ROOSTER artificial intelligence module developed in our laboratory (Breton et al. 2021). These methods will have to be implemented in Python or C++ with decision techniques to be developed to combine the results obtained by different methods. This automated pipeline will be based on individual methods already developed and published (e.g. Mathur et al. 2010, Garcia et al. 2014, Santos et al. 2019, 2021) as well as on new analysis techniques. This pipeline will be tested on data from NASA's Kepler and TESS space missions currently in flight as well as on simulated data from the PLATO mission (ESA).
