SONG BOOK IN DIFFERENT KEYS

1. Different instruments read in different keys, as annoying as it may sound: trumpet, soprano sax and tenor sax are in B\(\flat\), alto sax and baritone sax are in E\(\flat\). It means that when a tenor sax sees a C on a score, he actually plays a B\(\flat\). If we want to play a given tune with this type of character, we need to provide them with a transposed score.
2. Being a Tele player, I love to tune my guitar down a half step (E\(\flat\) standard) or even a whole step (D standard). It happens to be easier to transpose the tunes rather than learning the new notes on the neck. Thus, when I play in E\(\flat\) standard tuning, I read scores for B instruments, and in D standard, I read B\(\flat\) scores.

The scores below have been automatically transposed from a single lilypond file per song. I have a quite complicated set-up in bash looping over tunes and keys and calling lilypond, LaTeX, ImageMagick and emacs-org. It takes a few minutes to run for the whole repertoire, but it is easy to update.
