Responsibilities
- NUCLEUS (2018-now)
Analysis coordinator. Member of the Collaboration Board.
- KATRIN (2016-now)
Analysis coordinator for the first measurement of the neutrino mass & beyond standard model searches. Member of the Executive Board. Member of the Analysis Coordination Board.
- Scientific leader of the CeSOX experiment at CEA (2014-2018)
The CeSOX experiment aims at the clarification of the so-called neutrino anomalies, a set of circumstantial evidence of electron neutrino disappearance observed at LSND, MiniBoone, with nuclear reactors, and with solar neutrino Gallium detectors. In the case of positive results, CeSOX could demonstrate the existence of sterile neutrino components and therefore open a new era in fundamental particle physics and cosmology. In the case of a negative result, CeSOX will be able to close a long-standing debate about the reality of the neutrino anomalies. The CeSOX experiment will use a powerful and innovative antineutrino generator made of Ce-144 located underneath the Borexino detector. The experiment is in preparation and it is expected to start in November 2015 for about two years.
- Scientific leader of the CeLAND project at CEA (2012-2013)
Several observed anomalies in neutrino oscillation data can be explained by a hypothetical fourth neutrino separated from the three standard neutrinos by a squared mass difference of a few eV2. These anomalies can be tested with a 2.8 PBq 144Ce- 144Pr antineutrino beta-source deployed next/in of KamLAND. This project has been awarded by an ERC starting grant for the period 2012-2017. The goal is to produce the source at PA Mayak in 2014 and to deploy it next to KamLAND in 2015.
- Scientific leader of the Double Chooz experiment at CEA (2003-)
Among the two initiators and leaders of the Double Chooz experiment. Editor of the letter of intent (2004) and of the proposal of the experiment (2006). Leading role in the formation of the collaboration and in the funding processes. Member of the Executive Committee - Member of the Technical Board. Analysis Coordinator until 2011. Co-head of the Mechanical group. Head of the Reading Committee.
- Scientific leader of the Nucifer experiment at CEA (2008-2015)
Nucifer is an experiment using neutrinos to endeavor the detection of the proliferation of nuclear fissile material in nuclear power stations (plutonium diversion), in collaboration with IAEA. Leading role in the funding process (first proposed in 2005, funded in 2008) and detector design. Co-leader of the experiment.
-Co-convener of the GDR-GT1 (2005–2011)
The GDR (“Groupement De Recherche”) is a common structure of CEA & CNRS to gather the French neutrino groups to improve the fundamental understanding of neutrinos through a coherent and unified approach. The GT1 (“Groupe de Travail 1”) is the working group devoted to the determination of the fundamental properties of neutrinos.
