Astrophysics : a new European network for the study of black holes
The European commission invests 2,5 millions euros in a new 'Marie Curie formation network' entitled
"The Universe of the Black Holes", that will be part of the 7th cooperation program of the European Union.
This network will link the A.I.M. laboratory (Université Paris Diderot / CEA Saclay / CNRS-INSU) , europeans universities and several other institutes associated for the formation of a new generation of doctorate students and post-doctorate scientists in astrophysics and spatial sciences. The network goal is the study of the black holes and their impact in the universe, from the stellar black holes produced in massive stars explosions to their heavy counterparts, a billion times more massive, at the centre of the galaxies.
Selected among 60 other projects, out of 900 submitted proposals in science, this program started on Octobre 1, 2008 and will last four years.
