As the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) comes out of the world's largest cryogenic tank, a crucial milestone for the telescope and its instruments has been reached with successful cryogenic testing. Within an international consortium, France, in particular the CEA, CNRS and CNES, played a key role in providing Hubble and Spitzer's successor with its infrared imager, MIRIM, enabling it to obtain images in a wavelength range of 5 to 28 microns.
