The origin of the solar cycle unveiled
Thanks to new numerical simulations, scientists from CEA, CNRS and Paris Diderot University explain why the Sun's magnetic field reverses every eleven years. The discovery of a law of scale for the period of a star's magnetic cycle is a world first published on July 14, 2017 in Science and provides a better understanding of violent space weather phenomena.
