A team from the laboratory "Astrophysics, Instrumentation, Modeling" Paris-Saclay (AIM - CNRS/CEA/Université Paris Diderot)[1] has developed a new model representing the evolution of protoplanetary disks over millions of years. These giant structures composed of dust and gas would be the privileged place of formation of the planets thanks to the presence of what the researchers call "traps with planets". With this new model, scientists were able to determine the most favourable places to form the planets. These results were published online on May 6 by the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.
