Our super-continent of galaxies: the Laniakea

An international research team, including astrophysicist Hélène Courtois from the Lyon Institute of Nuclear Physics (Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University / CNRS) and CEA-Irfu research engineer Daniel Pomarède, has just discovered the frontiers of the galaxy continent in which we live. They gave it the Hawaiian name of Laniakea: "immense celestial horizons". This discovery made the front page of the prestigious international journal Nature dated September 4, 2014.
