An High Luminosity LHC in 10 years at Cern

A new construction site opens today, Friday 15 June 2018, at the LHC, the large hadron collider. Initiated in 2011, this project aims to bring into service by 2026 a high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) that will increase the number of proton-proton collisions and collect more data. France is making a significant contribution to this project (180 million euros, including payroll). The CNRS and CEA teams participate in particular in research and technological developments on superconducting magnets as well as in the updating of detectors and the accelerator. On the French side, more than 400 scientists are accompanying the renewal of the largest and most powerful particle collider in the world...
