The recent progress in the manufacture and supply of commercial grade MgB2 conductors has allowed for a significant increase of demonstration activities based on them. Thanks to its low-cost, availability in long lengths, and adequate performance in moderate magnetic fields up to several Tesla, in combination with its superior flexibility in wire design and continuous progress in optimizing reliable cooling technologies to attain a reasonable operating temperature in the 10-25K range, MgB2 is increasingly becoming a material of choice for various practical applications of superconductivity. In this presentation, recent achievements in terms of wire performance we have achieved, as well as an update of the different applications under development will be reported.
