To advance the cryogenic fluid management technology of liquid propellant rockets, CEL (Cryogenic Engineering Lab.) of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is conducting several experimental research projects mostly by using liquid nitrogen, oxygen, and Tetrafluoromethane. The following research subjects are to be specifically discussed to share the knowledge we have gained so far:

(1)  No Vent Fill (NVF) experiment to demonstrate cryogenic liquid transfer without venting which identified some critical parameters to enable this technique for various applications

(2)  Thermodynamic Vent System (TVS) of which experiment elucidates the passive cooling method of cryogen before venting

(3)  Line Chill-down experiment and analysis that analyze the transient cooling process of cryogenic transfer line with adequate heat transfer coefficient for each subdivided temporal region

(4)  Mass Gauging experiment and analysis that introduce the method of measuring the amount of cryogenic liquid at microgravity condition
