In the journal Science Advances on 1 January 2016, astronomers from the Astrophysical Department (SAp) of the CEA-Saclay and Universities of Vienna, British Columbia, and Sydney as well as the Max Planck Institute, presented a new method for measuring the surface gravity of a star (which depends on its mass and diameter) with an accuracy of a few percent. Moreover, this method is also applicable to low luminosity stars for which the current instruments do not have sufficient sensitivity to perform usual seismic studies.
