Optical spectroscopy W1 field

Details about the Vipers spectroscopy:

  • unless instrument failure or ESO special decision, the whole green rectangle will be convered (time is already allocated).
  • small squares are regions where the Vipers spectra and redshifts are already validated
  • Vipers spectroscopy targets galaxies as faint as I(AB)=22.5
  • Vipers spectroscopy has a preselection in zphot resulting in an effective catalogue (verified with first data) of redshifts for objects between z=0.4 and 1.2. In this range, the sampling is about 50% (half of the objects in this redshift range have a spectrum).

Details about the candidate clusters from CFHTLS photometric redshifts:

  • they use the T06 release and detections are made as galaxy overdensities in photometric redshift slices (see Adami, Durret et al. 2010 for an early release on the T04 CFHTLS version)
  • centers are only poorly constrained (~2 arcmin)
  • detection led by F. Durret

Very large blue circles: Boss/SDSS spectro areas
Green median circles: existing XMM pointings
Small blue squares: existing Vipers spectroscopy
Large green rectangle: scheduled Vipers spectroscopy
Small green circles: V<7 Tycho2 stars
Small blue circles: candidate clusters from CFHTLS photometric redshifts at z<0.6
Small red circles: candidate clusters from CFHTLS photometric redshifts at z>0.6
